What is the Aldersgate Video Directory ?

The video directory is a collection of photos and short video clips that can be viewed over the internet.

The movies seem to start and stop. How can I make them play smoothly on my computer?

The video clips are large files that are progressively streamed to your computer over the internet. That means that they need to download to your computer to play smoothly. If you have a dial up internet connection or a slow DSL connection, the movies may start to play and then pause as the rest of the video is downloaded. This is normal behavior but it can make the videos frustrating to watch. Clicking on the Play/Pause button (on the player) will pause the playback of the video while allowing the file to continue downloading. The progress bar at the bottom of the player will show you how much of the video has been received. Once the file is completely downloaded, you can click on the play button again and it should play smoothly without interruption. Once a movie has been downloaded, you can play it over again without having to download it again. Movies will automatically be deleted from your computer when you close your browser.

Why are we creating a church video directory?

The idea of creating a video directory came from the desire to find a better way of connecting with members of the Aldersgate congregation. We thought a video directory would be a good way for people to share a little bit about themselves and make it easier for the church congregation to associate with each other. The hope is that you will find the video directory a useful tool in building relationships and for drawing us closer together as a church family.

I can see the photos but the videos will not play.

You may need to install the Adobe Flash player onto your computer. The Adobe Flash player is a free software program that lets your computer play this type of video file. You can download the program for free at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

How can I get a video added to the church directory?

Contact Jeff Cross at 618-525-7492 or call the church office at 618-997-6065 to arrange for a time your video can be taped. Video tapings are currently being done during the 9:45 and 11:00 am Sunday School hours.
