RE/MAX Classic will be one of 
the first businesses allowed to connect to the region’s new fiber optic broadband internet service in 2012. Contractors are currently installing buried conduit which will carry the fiber optic cables to the office. Fiber optic technology is the fastest form of internet service available offering speeds hundreds of times faster than dial up or DSL connections. The upgrade in service is made possible through a federal grant created to bring reliable high speed internet service to rural areas throughout Illinois. Clearwave Communications of Harrisburg, Illinois is the lead company tasked with building the new network. Limited testing of the new connections is expected to start soon with full implementation in the spring of 2012. The faster connection speeds means that we will be able to deliver high speed communications, audio, and video services to our clients.

RE/MAX Classic has begun using QR coding in most of its print advertising. QR codes, also known as “quick response” codes, will allow a consumer with a smart phone or other hand held device to quickly scan the QR graphic symbol and have it interpreted for them. The QR code can dial a phone number, display a small message, photograph, or open a web page. Both Apple and Droid smart phones now support decoder software which can scan QR codes using the device’s built in camera.
For example, the QR code shown here will cause a smart phone to open the office’s main web site. Codes displayed in print advertising will allow a consumer to quickly access additional property information linked to the code.
A new mobile web site, www.rmxtours.com, has been created to allow smartphone and mobile device users to search and browse listings, watch streaming video tours, and chat live with an agent. The site links to our custom YouTube channel and has links to our other online web resources.
